NOTE TO ADOPTERS: "Lassie, Cleo, Rin Tin Tin, and Toto don't show up in a rescue shelter.
We don't get the elegantly coiffed, classically beautiful, completely trained, or perfectly behaved dog or cat.
We get leftovers. Animals that other people have incompetently bred, inadequately
socialized, ineffectively "trained" and badly treated. Most rescue dogs and cats have had it. They've
been pushed from one lousy situation to another. They've lived outside..in a crate, or in the basement. They're
scared, depressed, and anxious. Some are angry. Some are sick. Some have given up. But the Tunica Humane Society will not give up. We will never give up on an
animal. We know that they are living beings, with a spirit, a heart, and feelings. Our animals are not commodities,
things, or garbage. They are part of sacred creation and they deserve as much love and care and respect as the next
Westminister champion. So...please, please don't come to rescue a dog or cat in the hopes of getting a "bargain"
or indeed of "getting" anything. Come to the shelter to give, to love, and to save a life and to mend
your own spirit. For rescue will reward you in ways you never thought possible. We can promise you this...a rescue
dog or cat will make you a better person." UNKNOWN

KIBBLE This is not just another neighborhood dog no-one wants to claim...Kibble is so friendly.
She deserves to be wanted and loved by someone special.

MURPHY This dog should have been named "Twister". He gets so excited
when you talk to him....he twists in every direction. He was very shy when he came to us, but he has really opened up
to us and has become a really sweet dog.

Most of our dogs have the same story....they
have been thrown away by an indifferent society. They have been picked up on county roads where they were left to fend
for themselves, they have been dropped off in someone's drive-way, they have been found scrounging for food in fields, or
they have been turned over to us because the owners just didn't want them or couldn't afford them.
We take them in, love them and feed them. We give them any medical attention needed...shots,
spay or neuter....and we try very hard to find them forever homes with a loving family.

EDDIE was abandoned and left to fend for himself.
He is a beautiful border collie mix and loves to strutt around our shelter like a "DOG" on a mission. He will
make some lucky human a great companion.

Brewsky and Sabrina....we received numerous
calls about 2 dogs hanging out at the Exxon on Casino Parkway....when we went to get them, we found them piled up on
the sidewalk covered with snow. To say these two dogs are special is an understatement.....they are awesome! They
have all the qualities that makes for a great companion...sweet, loving, friendly....you name it....and you will find it in
these two!

|
JOSIE & JAZZIE....were found on someone's front porch...very
small little pups...no-one knew where they came from. They
have grown into big beautiful dogs, are friendly, plays good with other dogs.

Coco and Hank....these two precious dogs
were adopted by Sally...they had a wonderful home in the country...due to health reasons, Sally is moving to Texas to live
with her son...and she had to surrender these two dogs back to us. It is our hope they can be adopted together....they
love each other so much...and it would be a shame to have to separate them. Sally was a wonderful mom to these 2 pups
and we are so grateful for the life she has provided for them the last few months.
